- The National Wildlife Refuge Association will hold the 4th annual Wildlife Refuge Digital

- Sean Furniss, National Coordinator of the Refuge Roads Program with the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service, discussed potential funding opportunities related to the upcoming transportation bill reauthorization on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Hosted by the Friends of Necedah National Wildlife Refuge the meeting was attended by area businesses and organizations.

- As of October 2008 work on the approach road and parking lot for the Visitor Center is
complete. Construction of the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center begins in the spring of 2009 with doors opening by fall of 2010.

- The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
approved $469 million for the National Wildlife Refuge System's fiscal year 2009 budget, $35 million more than the White House's proposal of $434 million for refuge operations and maintenance.
- Be sure to write to or email Congressman Ron Kind (D-WI), a founding co-chair of the
Congressional Wildlife Refuge Caucus, to thank him for all his efforts on behalf of our National Wildlife Refuge System and for the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge. Thanks to Congressman Kind, along with Congressman David Obey, Senator Russ Feingold and Senator Herb Kohl for ear-marking $3.5 in the 2007 budget for the refuge's new visitor center!
